The Googlebar in Explorer is a piece of spyware. True, google notifies you it is spyware, and, much as i thank them for the kind notification, I still have no desire to install it.
Worse yet, it has a number of remote holes which are critical to security.
I wonder why you're using IE (which should be referred from now on to as "TTB" or "The Terrible Bloatware") at all. There are other browsers far better than that. Try Opera. Or Mozilla. Or, better, it's spinoff, Phoenix. The latter two have a Google plugin which is opensource and no remote holes I'm aware of have been found in it. Opera has the option of searching Google [and other search-engines] from withing the browser built-in.
Crappy site. I have this plugin installed, which fakes user-agent-- it helps in many cases. this time it didn't help . I opened it up with IE and saw nothing but Perl and Javascript, and IMHO there should be no trouble with these in any browser [unless of course the scripts are configured to deny other browsers]. I toyed around with Proxomitron to filter out the part which determines OS and browser, but after the filtering it showed up incorrectly because of it. IMHO, it is possible to view it in other browsers with some fiddling; however I see no reason to toy more with this crap.
also this site demands your real data and doesn't have a privacy policy. i'm perfectly happy not being able to login there.
Unfortunately, I have to use it at work, since our LAN is built on Windoze and has NTLM authentication. Out of work I stopped. Phoenix supports everything I need.
